Robotic Surgery

Additional Information

North Texas Access Surgeons performs many general surgery procedures using robotic surgery (or robot-assisted) techniques.  Robotic surgical procedures enable the surgeon to use smaller incisions, reducing the patient’s pain, blood loss, and risk of complication.  Robot-assisted surgeries also leave smaller scars and often shorten recovery time.

During robotic spinal surgery, the physician performs the procedure through the small incisions, using small, specialized instruments and a small high definition powerful camera to visualize the operative area.  The surgeon controls the instruments and the camera using robotic arms.  In many cases, the camera’s enhanced magnification (10x) and the advanced capabilities of the robotic arms allow the surgeon to perform procedures with a higher degree of precision than would otherwise be possible without these tools.  With this technology, surgeons are able to perform more complex procedures using minimally-invasive techniques.

Our surgeons perform the following robotic surgeries:

Complex abdominal wall reconstructions

  • Gallbladder removal
  • Inguinal hernia repair
  • Ventral hernia repair
  • Appendectomy
  • Surgeries of the small and large intestine
  • Surgeries of the retroperitoneum
  • Surgical procedures for gastroesophageal reflux disease
